I'm interested in the possibilities the practice of painting allows me.  It serves my creative interests and is the voice for things I cannot put into words.  My work is realized at the intersection of pattern and objects of beauty.   It is comprised of found imagery and marks stemming from my spontaneous and often impulsive reactions to those images. 

New Works

Over the last six years I have worked between abstract and figurative themes using collage elements and paint to establish color, pattern and texture.   Where previously these elements have taken on the role of various characters in a story or setting they now act as my sketch and have been constructed with sourced imagery and digital manipulation.  They have skewed perspectives, bold colors and pattern, and often a main character.  As I begin a piece the collage is gridded off to establish order, simplify my approach and allow me to narrow in on a central idea.  In doing so I focus on the mark making rather than the overall image and the intuitive, spontaneous nature of my work is preserved.
